Week 6: Spooktacular Sketch Appeal

Oh my GOTH: can you believe it's October already?!

This is my favourite month of the year: what with all the conkers, colourful leaves and chance to dress up like an idiot for Halloween.

To me, October is an official excuse to act moody, wear black and eat sweets for a month.  And with winter creeping in, it's also the perfect excuse for us to stay indoors, get the sketchbook out and channel our inner Van GOTHS!

Your first Inktober challenge

I've got some wicked activities lined up for us this month! The first is to design a suitable spooky cover for theOctober issue of Sketch Appeal magazine.

Sketch Appeal is a (fictional) fashion magazine, so think gorgeous goths, fierce faces and creepy couture.  You could hone in a key feature or body part for a minimalist look: or go all out with a theatrical Alexander McQueen number!

The choice - and the challenge - is yours!

Here are one or two I made earlier....

Trick or treat

Once you've completed this week's challenge why not treat yourself to one of my new Lady Licorice tees or cushions!

And finally:

Something wicked this way comes...

Something wicked = m y dream Halloween outfit, designed by MSGM! Some Instagrammers post their illustrations alongside the source images, which I always find fascinating to see.  I'd do the same but, having worked in publishing, I'm too cautious about the copyright issues!   SO, if you're curious to see the photo I drew the above illustration from, you'll have to  take a look here
